In his latest book, Non-Native Ornamental Tree, Shrub and Vine Hardiness Evaluation for P.E.I.: A Pictorial Library he analyzes beautiful ornamental trees, shrubbery, and vines. He references their identification features, cultural information, impactful native and invasive pests, height, form, and timing of flowers, fruits and fall colour.
“A lot of people love trees and flowers and are familiar with a limited number of common genus and species sold locally, though may not be familiar with an extensive number of genus and species from around the world which are aesthetically worthy of growing on P.E.I.. This is why I decided to make a pictorial book so that they can learn about different plants. The book is informative and easy to follow, mainly because there are pictures of many plants that I’ve provided information on,” commented Carmichael, talking about the reason he wrote the book and what readers should expect from it.
David Carmichael has years of experience researching about plants, especially trees and flowers. Through his book, he hopes that people who are fans of gardening or landscaping will be able to learn new things about the different plants found in Canada and around the world.
